June 2008:

 The first ever Cosequin ™ Phillip Dutton Eventing Camp was held from June 2 through 6, and by all accounts was a rousing success!  To read more about it in a blog entry by one of the campers, please visit useventing.com.

Hannigan

Phillip Dutton's long-time friend and partner, Hannigan, was humanely put down June 2 after suffering a fatal injury in his paddock at True Prospect Farm in West Grove, Pa. 

 Hannigan, 17, had many top four-star finishes, including fourth place at Rolex Kentucky in 2005, second place at Rolex Kentucky in 2004, eighth place at Badminton (England) in 2003 and 18th at Burghley (England) in 2001. He also finished third at the 2005 Fair Hill CCI*** (Md.), the 2001 Foxhall CCI*** (Ga.) and the 2000 Foxhall CCI (with Abigail Lufkin), in addition to numerous advanced horse trial wins.

 "He was the quietest, kindest horse I ever have had the pleasure to ride, both in the saddle and on the ground," said Dutton. "Added to his incredible temperament, 'Hank' was a super gifted animal in all three phases. His exuberant jump made him a pleasure to ride and to watch. He made the big four-star events at Badminton, Burghley and Rolex feel like he was jumping around a very easy course."

 Bruce Duchossois owned the bay Irish Sport Horse (Western Promise-Bleeker Lady), who had started his career in Ireland with Sue Shortt and was shortlisted for the 2000 Olympics with Abigail Lufkin.

 After Hank retired from international competition, Dutton's stepdaughter, Lee Lee Jones, took over the ride and won their last event together at Plantation Field (Pa.) in April at the training level.

"He was her first horse after riding ponies," said Dutton. "Probably the greatest compliment I could pay to him is the way he mellowed his big jump so that she could stay with him. 

 "Evie and I would like to thank Bruce Duchossois, who made it possible for Lee Lee and me to ride Hank and everyone who took care of him and loved him as we did," Dutton added.

True Prospect Farm, owned by Phillip & Evie and Bruce Duchosso is located in the rolling hills of southern Chester County, Pennsylvania, fifty minutes south of Philadelphia. It is this idyllic countryside which first attracted notable flat and steeplechase trainers, foxhunters, driving enthusiasts, show hunters and jumpers, and of course, three day event riders.

Our eighty acres of beautiful pasture, cross country jumps, spacious indoor arena, outdoor sand arena, half-mile galloping track and stabling for forty horses make it ideal for training the three-day event horse..

Our aim at True Prospect Farm is to provide excellent care to our horses while offering the best coaching and training of the three day event horse and rider possible.
